This is a MACALLAN aged for 23 years, matured in a refill bourbon hogshead. The aroma is elegant with notes of vanilla, apple, milky creaminess, a good rustic grain character, a hint of cinnamon, and natural maturation. Upon tasting, it offers a smooth mouthfeel with gentle sweetness, soft grainy umami, creaminess, and a natural, pleasant finish without any artificiality. [Good/Very Good] This is a new release from SMWS, number 24, featuring MACALLAN distilled in 1991 and aged for 23 years. The aroma is elegant, with apple, vanilla, and creaminess. The grain character is well-balanced, with a natural sense of maturation throughout. Upon tasting, it is smooth and creamy, with the natural umami of grain, which was a pleasant experience. Although this is a bourbon cask MACALLAN different from the official releases, it did not have the forced flavoring often found in bourbon casks. Instead, it had a natural barrel character typical of refill casks, which left a good impression with its natural deliciousness.
