Clynelish CLYNELISH 1992-2014 21yo CADENHEAD SMALL BATCH for The Nectar 50.4% one of 222 bottles, Bourbon Hogshead
Bottle #クライヌリッシュ(CLYNELISH)
It felt somewhat reserved in its character but offered a stable and delicious flavor. Clynelish CLYNELISH 1992-2014 21yo CADENHEAD SMALL BATCH for The Nectar 50.4% one of 222 bottles, Bourbon Hogshead The aroma features orange cream, waxiness, a solid barley note, nuances of smoked straw, nuts, and oil. Upon drinking, the smooth and viscous texture slowly expands into orange cream, coconut, savory barley notes, a honeyed sweetness, oil, oak, with a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This is a Clynelish bottled for The Nectar in Belgium, aged 21 years. While it exhibits the typical waxiness, oiliness, and viscosity associated with Cadenhead, its texture is slightly more slippery, replaced by a stronger creamy nuance. Particularly notable was the pronounced orange cream character both in aroma and flavor, alongside the savory barley notes and honeyed sweetness, making for a consistently delicious malt. However, while many points in Cadenhead's tasting notes were relatable, there were several elements such as mango, strawberry, and peppermint that I did not find agreeable. Although some terms like creaminess and coconut are similar, the notes feel overly exaggerated and lengthy, giving the impression that a different taster might have written them.
