New Release: Scapa 1992-2015 23 Year Old Official Bottling Distillery Reserve Collection #1069 58.4%
Bottle #スキャパ(SCAPA)
It had a good sherry character and aroma that was to my taste.
Scapa SCAPA 1992-2015 23yo OB 'THE DISTILLERY Reserve Collection' #1069 58.4%, one of 780 bottles, Butt
The aroma had a good sherry character with sweet prunes jam, grapes with their skins, and bitter chocolate covered oranges, rich.
When drinking it, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands powerfully, with the rich sweetness of prunes jam, a tightening tannin and depth, long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This limited edition bottle can only be purchased at Scapa Distillery, brought by a malt friend who joined me halfway through my Scotland trip.
Following the previous 2003 release of the 12 year old, this one is a darker, 23 year old matured whisky.
The aroma starts with a good sherry character, and the concentrated plum-like fruit notes and bitter chocolate impression were very favorable.
When drinking it, it has a matured character while also possessing the powerfulness expected from a high proof whisky. Just like the aroma, it has the prunes jam notes, a rich and thick sweetness, and a tightening tannin which was also good.
While I thought it would be different from the 12 year old I introduced recently, personally, I prefer this 1992 bottling for its natural feel and the absence of astringent sherry notes.
