Longmorn LONGMORN 1992-2015 23yo Highlander Inn #49514 51.7% One of 228 bottles
Bottle #ロングモーン(LONGMORN)
A Longmorn with a clear sense of barrel aging. Longmorn LONGMORN 1992-2015 23yo Highlander Inn #49514 51.7% One of 228 bottles The aroma features bitter chocolate-covered orange, heated berries, pineapple, a hint of peach, tea leaves, butterscotch, caramelized nuts, and a faint solvent-like pencil shavings. The woodiness is strong yet rich. On the palate, it has a creamy viscosity with a dense flavor profile of apricot jam, mildly bitter chocolate, and a rich, sweet depth. The woodiness is pronounced but not harsh, finishing with a tight, oily, and richly flavored aftertaste. [Good/Very Good] This Longmorn 1992, aged for 23 years, was recently bottled for Highlander Inn. Although not explicitly stated, it is likely matured in Sherry Hogsheads. As described above, both the aroma and flavor are diverse and rich. A variety of scents centered around chocolate and concentrated fruits are evident, with a strong sense of barrel aging. While the woodiness is pronounced, the bitterness is not overly intense, which was a positive impression. Personally, I prefer slightly more restrained barrel characteristics for drinkability, but this whisky's chocolate and concentrated fruit notes would appeal to many Longmorn enthusiasts and a broad audience. Such casks are rare, so it's impressive that Highlander Inn has released this quality product.
