The second release was also quite well-crafted. Glenburgie GLENBURGIE 1992-2016 24yo Abeyhill for MALTOYAMA THE 3rd ANNIVERSARY PRIVATE BOTTLE #3441 57.8% The aroma has a refined bourbon cask nuance with vanilla and orange, faint notes of peach and pineapple, a touch of green melon, evolving into apple juice, aged shochu, a moderate graininess, and diluted honey. When drinking, it lacks punch but gradually becomes spicy with hints of orange and apple, a subtle sweetness reminiscent of honey, gentle acidity, and a savory graininess. There's a slight woody character but no artificial seasoning; the oak tightens the flavor. [Good/Very Good] This Glenburgie 1992, aged for 24 years, was bottled to commemorate the third anniversary of Maltoyama, a sake shop in Toyama. It's the second release following Astarmoris' MacDuff. I received this in the usual small bottle exchange format, as requested by the shop owner, Shigemasa, who wanted me to taste it before its opening in Yurakucho. Therefore, the photos for this review were provided by Shigemasa. Last time's MacDuff had a refined bourbon-like nuance, and despite its short aging period, it was well-crafted. However, this Glenburgie is a slightly different type. Perhaps a refill bourbon hogshead? While there's a faint woody character, the cask's rustic goodness shines through, offering a natural aging feel with diverse fruits and savory graininess. There's little artificial seasoning. Though not overt, the aroma includes a variety of fruits like peach and melon. When drinking, the rustic savory notes clearly outweigh any prickly elements, making it a type that's enjoyable without tiring the palate. After leaving some of the small bottle sample for about a week, the initial slight woody bitterness had largely faded, allowing for easier, stress-free consecutive tastings. Compared to MacDuff, its individuality and quality might be less obvious, making it slightly more niche. However, with its natural aging feel, I believe this is a good bottle.
