[Good/Very Good]
This new release of Aultmore 1992, aged for 21 years, was bottled by BBR for Yoshinoya and Campbeltown Loch. The cask selection process took considerable time, making this a much-anticipated bottle.
The aroma includes green apple and orange, with hints of ripe pear and peach suggesting some aging. There's a honey-like sweetness and a refined barley character, creating an appealing aroma.
On the palate, it's gentle with similar fruity notes as the aroma and a balanced barley umami. The sweetness is mild, honey-like, with oak tannins adding depth without being intrusive.
Overall, it has a maturity close to long-aged malts but with no harsh elements, offering a refined and balanced flavor profile. Compared to other bottles I've recently tried, this feels particularly approachable without any difficult characteristics.
While not an outstanding bottle, all elements are well-balanced and harmonious, making it a smooth, easy-to-drink whisky. It seems like an excellent everyday dram, though its cask strength ABV means you might find yourself drinking more than intended without realizing it.
Notably, there's often a difference between sample and final product, but in this case, the actual whisky closely matched the sample tasted during cask selection.
