Laphroaig 1993 12 Year Old Jack & Jack 54.8%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
Undoubtedly a masterpiece from the bottler's 1993 Laphroaig.
Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1993 12yo JACK&JACK 54.8% one of 287 bottles, Bourbon Cask
The aroma is fruity and strong, with grapefruit zest, guava and passion fruit, vanilla, dry grain notes, a gentle iodine-rich peat, fish stock, and cheese.
When drinking, it has a powdery, chewy texture with grapefruit zest, prosciutto melon, vanilla, a pleasant balance of sweetness and acidity from citrus, rich umami with sensations of grain and light stock, and a long fruity peaty finish.
【Very Good/Excellent】
The Laphroaig 1993, 12-year-old bottling by Jack & Jack (Jack Wiebers).
From the very first nose, a strong burst of fruitiness is immediately apparent.
In addition to the grapefruit zest and prosciutto melon that make for a delicious Laphroaig, there are also tropical fruits like guava and passion fruit that remind me of Bowmore. I clearly sensed the good bourbon cask vanilla, nice grain notes, and the iodine-rich peat that is characteristic of Laphroaig.
The balance between sweetness and acidity was good, and the umami was rich, which left a favorable impression. However, what most appealed to me was the unique chewy texture that felt almost powdery and concentrated.
While the aging is not particularly pronounced, it's such an excellent Laphroaig that I rated it Very Good/Excellent. Before tasting this, I had drunk the 32-year-old Bicentenary bottling, and having experienced two distinctively outstanding expressions with different aging periods made me overthink what I truly desire from Laphroaig and what I should value, almost driving me mad. (laughs)
If I drank it without thinking, I might think this is better than the 32-year-old.
I'm not sure recently, but Jack Wiebers has consistently provided many delicious Laphroaig expressions regardless of long or short aging.
I remember there was another bottling from 1993 besides this one, and that was also excellent.
This is a bottler I trust for Laphroaig.
