Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
The commemorative bottle from 1993 was indeed exceptional. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1993-2009 16yo DOUGLAS LAING Old Malt Cask 10th Anniversary Bottling 52.3% one of 257 bottles, Refill Hogshead The aroma is extremely elegant and highly fruity, with grapefruit and its pith, freeze-dried strawberries, faint passion fruit, a powdery texture, dry barley, ginkgo, vanilla, and a strong peat with a faint seaweed note. When tasted, it is very fruity with a powdery, condensed sensation, similar to the aroma, featuring grapefruit and passion fruit, refined sweetness and acidity, a quick dash of seafood stock, smoky peat, and a long, fruity finish. 【Very Good】 This Laphroaig 1993, aged for 16 years, was bottled by Douglas Laing in 2009. It is one of the casks selected for the OMC's 10th anniversary, bottled at cask strength rather than the usual 50%. From the first aroma, a special sense of elegance and high fruitiness was evident. In addition to the typical Laphroaig grapefruit-like citrus notes and pithy texture from the bottler's refill cask, there was a nuance reminiscent of freeze-dried strawberries akin to Springbank, with a powdery and condensed sensation. The flavor also featured an impression of passion fruit reminiscent of Bowmore. The sweetness and acidity were pleasant, and the overall profile was refined. While the peat is strong, the seaweed note is not overpowering, which aligns with the bottler's style. This bottle, like the 1993 vintage, possesses a particularly outstanding fruitiness, truly deserving of its commemorative status.
