Bottle #グレンギリー(GLENGARIOCH)
There are more and more well-crafted rich sherry cask malts like this. GlenGarioch GLENGARIOCH 1993-2014 21yo ADELPHI #776 50% one of 562 bottles The aroma is strong sherry, plum and apricot jam, grape skins, caramel, black sugar, herbs, faint pine resin, rich, and when you drink it, the smooth mouthfeel expands into a full-bodied flavor. The strong sherry dominates everything, with intense jammy fruits and sweetness, while the tannins from grape skins and faint herbal bitterness define the flavor. There's also a rich barley umami with a luxurious finish. 【Good/Very Good】 New release from Adelphi, GlenGarioch 1993, 21 years old. Although not specified, it's likely a sherry cask. From the first aroma, recent sherry nuances are well-developed and quite complex. When drinking it, the flavor is similarly influenced by recent sherry casks, with a good balance of strong sweetness and bitterness. It provides satisfying drinkability and mouthfeel. While I don't think there's a particular necessity for it to be GlenGarioch, I feel that such malts with clear sherry characteristics, without obvious sulfur or rawness, have clearly increased compared to the past. Although mostly seasoned sherry casks, this malt made me realize again how much effort and innovation have been applied over the years.
