New Release: GlenDronach 1993-2014 21 Year Old Official for BEIJA-FLOR & SILVER SEAL #35
Bottle #グレンドロナック(GLENDRONACH)
An outstanding bottle that seems to have been aged in an exceptional cask.
GlenDronach GLENDRONACH 1993-2014 21yo OB for BEIJA-FLOR & SILVER SEAL #35 58.1% one of 605 bottles, OLOROSO SHERRY BUTT
The aroma features a strong sherry character with a faint touch of noble, old-world nuances, plum jam, dried fruits, slightly grape juice and berry notes, leather, damp leaf mold and clay, clove, a hint of herbs and plantiness, and a touch of caramel sauce. It is complex, with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a rich, fruity profile. The flavor mirrors the aroma, offering jammy notes and a subtle grape juice character, with a sweet depth of dark brown sugar and caramel, balanced by woody tannins. The finish is earthy, slightly damp, with a fruity sweetness and a well-balanced interplay of sweetness and astringency. The finish is not overly long but remains fruity and balanced.
【Very Good】
New release GlenDronach 1993, 21 years old. An official bottling for BEIJA-FLOR and SILVER SEAL in Italy. While I've had several recent examples of Sherry-aged GlenDronach from this era, the first impression of the aroma was strikingly different. It had a faint but noticeable noble sherry character reminiscent of something like 1972. The nose is rich and diverse with fruits, some juice-like qualities, and a damp earthiness and leather reminiscent of older Sherry casks. As described above, it's highly complex. The palate is similarly fruity, with a well-balanced sweetness and astringency. Among the many 90s GlenDronachs that have come out in recent years, this bottle stands out. When I tasted a hand-bottled example from the 90s, it was already impressive, but this one has even more complexity and a high level of finish. I have a feeling it might get even better with time. However, the only drawback was the price—nearly 30,000 yen for this specification. While the content is excellent, I hesitated a bit to purchase it. From before, I had the impression that bottles involving SILVER SEAL tend to be expensive, but this only reinforced that impression. Nevertheless, the bottle's contents are superb. Although there is no explicit mention of anything, the aroma and flavor would make one believe it was matured in a cask similar to that of 1972.
