Tasting it starts with a smooth mouthfeel, the cask is effective with a concentrated feel, dry orange with peel, vanilla, honey-like sweetness, tightening oak, and a rich finish. [Good/Very Good] This is an Isle of Arran 1993, 22-year-old whisky bottled in 2015 by Jack Wiebers Whisky World's Old Train Line series. Opportunities to drink Alterbane are rare, and on this blog, only one type has been covered so far. In my malt experience, I may have tried fewer than ten types. As a result, there's no particular impression of the house style, but this malt strongly conveyed the cask's flavor more than the original spirit. From aroma to taste, notes of vanilla, orange, and strong oak typical of bourbon casks were clearly present, with a rich honeyed sweetness and thickness from the orange peel and oak. Well-crafted and delicious, but ultimately I couldn't grasp Alterbane's uniqueness this time either.
