Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
Indeed, Bowmore from this era is delicious.
BOWMORE BOWMORE 1994-2008 BBR BERRYS' OWN SELECTION #1682/3 46%
The aroma is fruity, with grapefruit and passion fruit, vanilla, briny sea breeze and seafood dashi, and a strong peat note. Upon drinking, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel, expanding into the fruitiness of passion fruit and grapefruit, with a juicy sweetness and citrus acidity, refined dashi notes, and a pleasant fruity peaty finish. [Good/Very Good]
This Bowmore 1994 was bottled by BBR in 2008, aged for approximately 14 years. It was diluted to 46% with water from two casks. At the time, attention was mostly on cask strength bottlings, so diluted types like this were often overlooked. However, upon re-tasting now, the clear and pronounced fruitiness is still remarkable. The peaty notes confidently express Bowmore's characteristic grapefruit and passion fruit nuances. The balance between the juicy sweetness and acidity is exceptional, and due to the dilution, it's very smooth with a pleasant drinking experience. About 8 years have passed since bottling, and as it's diluted, the bottle aging process might be slightly faster. However, a cohesive and well-rounded character has developed. Yet again, this era's vintage is truly exceptional. Reflecting on the changes in this diluted version, I could also glimpse potential future changes in cask strength bottlings. These vintages, after undergoing bottle aging, might eventually be treated similarly to the 1960s. Perhaps 1993 will be treated like today's 1966? Given that this era has a substantial stock, it's very much looking forward to future developments.
