TALISKER 1994-2012 Malts of Scotland for Limburg Whisky Fair 2012 #MoS12023 48.9% - One of 235 bottles, Refill Sherry Hogshead The aroma features a mellow Sherry with notes of apricot jam, baked apple, plum, cinnamon, strong briny characteristics, and smoke. On the palate, it begins with a soft mouthfeel, spreading into the pleasant sweetness of apricot jam, gentle astringency, and strong peat without harshness. The finish is smoky with concentrated fruity notes. [Good/Very Good] Bottled in 2012 for the Limburg Whisky Fair by Malts of Scotland, this Talisker 1994 was aged for approximately 18 years. Although labeled as 'Tarinburg,' the contents are clearly Talisker. While official bottlings typically use plain oak casks, this Talisker was matured in a refill Sherry hogshead. Inside, the mellow Sherry character dominates, offering sweet fruitiness reminiscent of heated apricot and apple. However, the strong smoky characteristics typical of Talisker were also clearly present. Interestingly, despite the Sherry influence, the bottle retained a subtle spiciness often associated with Talisker's pepper-like qualities. Such verification is possible only through bottlers like Malts of Scotland. This rare specification bottling truly highlights the value of Talisker. #TALISKER (TALISKER)
