Clynelish certainly has a strong house style. Clynelish CLYNELISH 1995-2014 18yo Speciality Drinks #10193 57.5% one of 265 bottles, Hogshead The aroma features apricot jam, orange, vanilla, wax, oil, a moderate graininess. Upon drinking, it is smooth with viscosity but gradually becomes spicy, with the sweetness of apricot jam, a full-bodied texture, vanilla, light oak tannins, and an oily, long finish. [Good/Very Good] This is a new release from the Single Malt of Scotland by Specialty Drinks (Whisky Exchange). The components such as apricot jam, wax, and oil are clearly felt in both aroma and flavor, with a viscous texture and sweet body. These characteristics are common across many Clynelish expressions, both old and new, and were clearly present in this bottle. Additionally, the vanilla-like notes and oak tannins/spices reminiscent of bourbon casks contribute to this bottle's unique identity. As a distillery with an extremely strong house style, it can be challenging to avoid seeking typical components during open tastings, often resulting in similar tasting notes. However, the consistent house style ensures a reliable and delicious whisky, making it one of my personal favorite distilleries. #Clynelish (CLYNELISH)
