The aroma is heavy, with sweet honey, orange oil, plum, vanilla, coconut, a strong barley note. Upon drinking, it expands from a smooth mouthfeel into a rich, slightly viscous texture. The flavor carries the same dominant honey and orange oil notes from the aroma, with a deep sweetness and a long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This is a vatting of three casks (#2488, 2489 & 2491) from the GM CASK series of ABERFELDY 1995.
Interestingly, this series used to only display 'CASK' on the label, but over time, the word 'STRENGTH' was added in smaller text below. In recent releases, this section has become more prominent.
Indeed, the term 'CASK' can refer to various types like single cask or cask finish, so it's understandable that 'CASK STRENGTH' might be confusing.
Regarding the core content, the aroma has a slightly heavy impression from the start, with strong notes of honey and orange oil. Upon tasting, it expands from a smooth mouthfeel, maintaining its rich and viscous texture. The dominant honey and orange oil notes from the aroma remain prominent in flavor, with a deep sweetness, thick body, and long finish.
In particular, the honey-like characteristics often associated with ABERFELDY's house style are still present in GM bottlings, though not as pronounced as in official releases.
