New Release: TOMATIN 1995-2015 19yo OB for THE WHISKY HOOP #6711

#トマーティン(TOMATIN)
The most impressive aspect was its remarkably natural fruity character. TOMATIN TOMATIN 1995-2015 19yo OB for THE WHISKY HOOP #6711 60%, one of 280 bottles, Refill Sherry Hogshead The aroma is elegant and strong, with a rising array of fruity notes: pear compote, peach, orange juice, cream, vanilla, lively grain character, and pleasant oak. On the palate, it has a spicy, tingling sensation with peach and guava, sweet fruitiness with juice-like acidity, tightening oak tannins, late-arriving grain character, medium-bodied with a clean, refined finish without any roughness. [Good/Very Good] This is the TOMATIN 1995, aged for 19 years, released by THE WHISKY HOOP in October. It was first unveiled at the founding ceremony of THE WHISKY HOOP, and while it made a good impression then, re-tasting it now confirmed the same impression. The aroma is vibrant and strong, with diverse fruits like pear and peach clearly present alongside a juicy sensation. At the same time, a solid grain character is also evident, with oak nuances balanced just right for an excellent aroma. On the palate, as expected from a new release with high proof, it's quite stimulating. However, there is tropical fruitiness in the form of peach and guava, with sweet and acidic juice-like notes. Most importantly, it lacks the chemical or medicinal nuances often found in such expressions, which was a very positive impression for TOMATIN. As with the aroma, oak nuances and grain character are well-balanced, resulting in a refined, clean flavor profile. While not fully tropical, these elements are integrated into the diverse fruity character. Additionally, the absence of chemical-like notes makes it an exceptionally well-crafted fruity malt. Although the fruity impression is most notable, the presence of a solid grain character was also appreciated. Of course, in terms of the thickness and overall depth of the grain character, it's not particularly outstanding. However, I'm curious to see how it will evolve further in the bottle. It would be nice if this, which already has the recognizable TOMATIN style, could develop into a more robust, diverse, and natural expression with greater body.
