New Release: Springbank 1995-2015 19 Year Old for WHISKY LIVE TOKYO 2015

#スプリングバンク(SPRINGBANK)
A well-balanced sherry cask Springbank. Seems delicious even when aged. Springbank SPRINGBANK 1995-2015 19yo OB for WHISKY LIVE TOKYO 2015 55.9% One of 390 bottles, REFILL SHERRY CASK The aroma is rich in sherry, with notes of bitter chocolate-covered oranges, berry jam, dried fruits like dates, grape-like aromas reminiscent of Armagnac, clove and cinnamon, rye-like grains and peat. On the palate, it has a powerful attack, spreading with rich sherry-like fruits, herbs, slightly meaty and luxurious, thick sweetness, astringent finish, subtle minerality, and a long peaty aftertaste. [Good/Very Good] This is the Springbank 1995, a sherry cask aged for 19 years bottled specifically for this year's 'WHISKY LIVE TOKYO 2015'. The aroma is immediately rich in sherry, with a variety of sherry-related components like jam and dried fruits clearly perceptible. The grain character is also strong, typical of 90s Springbank, with a slightly stronger peat note. On the palate, the sherry character is as strong as the aroma, but with a slightly more meaty nuance than the aroma's impression. However, it is not sulfurous, with a powerful body, rich sweetness, balanced astringency, and a mineral-like Campbeltown character with peat notes. It is already delicious as it is, but if left to rest, the attack would soften, leading to a more unified flavor profile and potentially revealing even more diverse aromas. However, the price has been steadily increasing compared to its specifications, and this bottle is already around 30,000 yen, which is quite expensive. It feels like the price has risen significantly in recent years, but considering it's an official almost 20-year-old cask strength release, it might be somewhat unavoidable. Originally, this was a bottle I wanted to purchase and carefully age at home.
