On the palate, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel, expanding into dry orange, honeyed sweetness, mellow oak and malty umami with a smoky note from straw. [Good/Very Good] This Highland Park 1995, aged for 20 years, was bottled by GM for Belgium's 'THE WHISKY MERCENARY'. While it offers a moderate sense of good bourbon cask nuances such as orange, vanilla, and oak, it also clearly presents Highland Park-like notes like a honeyed sweetness and a smoky peat dominance. Currently, most official releases are sherry cask finishes, so having a bourbon cask like this strongly highlights the significance of bottlers. I personally prefer this type where a natural Highland Park is nicely complemented by the cask influence, even though it lacks diversity in aroma.
