#スプリングバンク(SPRINGBANK)
A bottle that subtly reveals its natural maturation with restrained sherry and peat notes. Springbank SPRINGBANK 1995-2016 20yo OB for TOKYO INTERNATIONAL BARSHOW 2016 52.1% One of 492 bottles, Fresh Sherry Cask The aroma is elegant with a delicate sherry character, the cask influence not overpowering. It presents a rustic yet robust graininess with notes of freshly picked strawberries, apples, honey, wheat flour, nuts, a hint of cinnamon, and minerals with gentle peat. On the palate, the sherry character becomes more pronounced than the aroma, with a gradual spicy warmth. Subtle cinnamon and orange notes emerge, balanced by a pleasant sweetness and acidity. The texture is powdery with a slight chewiness, leaving lingering flavors of well-preserved grain essence and oyster-like umami. The finish is long, with gentle peat and a touch of saltiness. 【Good/Very Good】 This is an official bottling for the Tokyo International Bar Show 2016, aged for 20 years from 1995. Despite the 'Fresh Sherry Cask' designation, the color is not deep and the sherry influence remains light, wrapping around the overall profile. While aged for 20 years, it exhibits a relatively youthful character with strong grain notes and vegetal undertones reminiscent of strawberries. However, this does not indicate immaturity; the aroma maintains a cohesive balance including the restrained peat typical of recent Springbank releases. On the palate, it feels more like a modern sherry style than the aroma suggests. The influence is present but not overwhelming, with natural fruity sweetness and acidity, pronounced grainy umami from fishy elements, and a touch of peat. The sherry character serves as one element among many, yet the overall experience was enjoyable with Springbank's signature aroma and natural maturation.
