Clynelish CLYNELISH 1995-2016 20yo SIGNATORY VINTAGE for THE WHISKY HOOP #8690 52.4% One of 618 bottles, Sherry Butt The aroma is refined recent sherry, beginning to ripen plums, apricot jam, lightly caramelized nuts, wax over time, and depth of malt. When drinking, it has viscosity, plums, wax or oil, the umami of barley, a rich sweetness, tightening oak sensation, and an unexpectedly light, slightly oily finish. [Good/Very Good] Signatory bottled Clynelish 1995, 20-year-old maturation for The Whisky Hoop. Distributed in January 2017. The aroma has a gentle, recent sherry character without the sharpness, with sweet jam-like and caramel notes. The waxy and oily nuances typical of Clynelish emerged from the depths. When drinking, there is indeed viscosity, the sherry cask's presence was moderate, but the waxiness seemed more prominent than the aroma. Despite the specs and alcohol content, the body was not as heavy as expected, but it had richness and umami, with depth that makes it quite delicious. There are over 600 bottles in the batch, and so far all have been allocated to The Whisky Hoop members, so it won't be available for a while. It will gradually improve and sell slowly as it matures. I'm particularly interested in how the balance between waxiness and sherry character evolves in this bottle, and I'd like to observe it carefully. #Clynelish (CLYNELISH)
