【Good/Very Good】
The Laphroaig 1996, aged for 11 years, bottled by German bottler Jack Wiebers under the name Jack & Jack.
While many of the bottler's Laphroaig releases tend to be vibrant, fruity, and slightly light-bodied, this bottle adds a touch of weight with nuances of apricot jam and dashi-like qualities, alongside strong iodine notes. Despite its aging period, it is remarkably complex and rich, with a hint of official release-like character.
It has a viscous, intense flavor profile and a long, enjoyable finish. For a moment, I considered rating it as Very Good.
There are several Jack & Jack bottles from 1993, but they often represent classic fruity Laphroaig. This bottle stands out in a different way, showcasing an exceptional cask. It reaffirmed my impression that this bottler is exceptionally skilled at selecting Laphroaig.
