【Good/Very Good】
This is a single cask Highland Park 1996, aged for 12 years with added water, from Douglas of Drumlanrig.
Although labeled as a Refill Hogshead, the aroma and flavor suggest a recent good bourbon cask aging with notes of orange, vanilla, and honey.
Although the aging period is not long, due to the added water, it does not have an immature graininess. It also has a honey-like sweetness and peat that are said to be characteristic of Highland Park.
There are no unpleasant elements such as raw woodiness or bitterness, and it is a smooth Highland Park with a pleasant drinking experience.
