New Release: Clynelish 1996-2015 BBR for La Maison du Whisky #6423

Clynelish CLYNELISH 1996-2015 BBR for La Maison du Whisky #6423 56%
Bottle #クライヌリッシュ(CLYNELISH)
They seem to have selected casks with a less intense character. Clynelish CLYNELISH 1996-2015 BBR for La Maison du Whisky #6423 56% The aroma has a plain cask character, lemon pie, vanilla, oil, honey, slightly wax and waxiness, with an intriguing briny note. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with viscosity, lemon cream, a rich honey sweetness with citrusy acidity, the umami of barley, gentle oak, and an oily yet unobtrusive finish. 【Good/Very Good】 Recently, BBR bottled Clynelish 1996 for La Maison du Whisky in France, aged for approximately 19 years. While it exhibits the distinct characteristics of Clynelish's house style—oily and waxy textures, a rich sweet flavor—it wasn't overpowering. It feels like it's built on the robust structure of a barley-based spirit, resulting in a balanced and approachable finish despite its individuality. Recently, many BBR releases for Maison in Ginza have opened up quickly, and I've had the chance to drink several within a short period. None of them strongly emphasized the current popular bourbon cask flavoring, rather they seemed to select casks with a moderate bourbon influence and a more neutral cask character. As a result, they all feel somewhat rustic and appealing to connoisseurs. I believe these are bottles that can be enjoyed without tiring of them over a long period. While La Maison du Whisky is renowned for their cask selection, I find myself endlessly curious about the concept guiding their choices nowadays. #Clynelish (CLYNELISH)
