Bottle #アバフェルディ(ABERFELDY)
It had a strong cask influence but was also very drinkable. Aberfeldy ABERFELDY 1997-2014 17yo CADENHEAD SMALL BATCH 56.8% one of 288 bottles, Bourbon Hogshead The aroma featured vanilla, lemon, strong barley notes, mild honey, green apple. Upon drinking, it presented a rich sweet honey flavor, orange, slightly creamy and full-bodied with good barley umami, slightly oily with a long finish. [Good/Very Good] Recently released Aberfeldy 1997, 17-year-old from Cadenhead's Small Batch. The aroma strongly showcased recent bourbon cask characteristics like vanilla, citrus, and green apple, with a youthful, forceful barley presence. Upon tasting, the impression was a rich, honey-like sweetness reminiscent of the distillery's house style, with clear barley umami and a long finish. While it might be slightly ambiguous for blind tasting, knowing the distillery's style makes it clear that many bottles exhibit this house character. Incidentally, recent Cadenhead tasting notes often resonate strongly compared to others, but for this bottle, I couldn't relate to descriptors like mango or berries. I might try it again after letting it rest a bit longer.
