Lagavulin LAGAVULIN 1997-2005 High Spirits 'Single Islay Malt 1' 46%
Bottle #ラガヴーリン(LAGAVULIN)
Despite its short aging period, it has a noticeable viscosity and is quite delicious. Lagavulin LAGAVULIN 1997-2005 High Spirits 'Single Islay Malt 1' 46% The aroma is sweet and rounded, with notes of apricot jam, tree sap, a touch of cream, seafood stock, and strong peat. On the palate, there is a rich sweetness from apricot jam with viscosity, nuts, savory seafood stock and barley umami, powerful peat, oily texture, and a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This single malt was released by Italy's High Spirits as part of their Single Islay Malt series, and it is said to contain Lagavulin. Bottled in 2005 from a 1997 vintage, it aged for approximately 8 years and is 46% ABV. Due to the influence of water addition and aging, both aroma and flavor have a roundedness and viscosity, with clear nuances of apricot jam and tree sap. Naturally, the strong peat characteristic of Islay malts is well-preserved. The viscous texture typically seen in official bottlings (barely present at 12 years, fully developed at 16 years) was surprisingly well-expressed in this bottle despite only around 8 years of aging. It left a strong impression for being fully matured without any signs of immaturity.
