Bottle #ロングロウ(LONGROW)
Young but powerful spirit matured in cask and peat. LONGROW LONGROW 1997-2005 8yo OB for SPRINGBANK SOCIETY 59.9% one of 630 bottles, Refill Sherry Butt The aroma is heavy with apricot jam, plum, boiled-down black tea, a slightly burnt young and strong barley note, oil, seafood dashi, smoky and heavy peat. When you drink it, it starts with a surprisingly smooth mouthfeel that expands powerfully, with jammy sweetness, a good amount of rich woodiness and tannin, strong seafood dashi notes, and the heavy peat lingers long. 【Good/Very Good】 This is an official bottling of LONGROW 1997 for the Springbank Society, matured for 8 years. The sherry cask influence is quite noticeable, with a rich jammy sweetness and strong woody tannin notes. However, the original spirit's heavy peatiness and seafood dashi-like character also assert themselves. Although only matured for 8 years, it lacks complexity but has depth and richness. It feels somewhat forceful in flavoring, yet the original spirit's character is still well-preserved. It seems like a well-crafted malt in its own right. That said, it's questionable whether it has reached its prime after 10 years from bottling. This strong malt, with both the cask and original spirit being intense, might be even better after another 20 years of aging.
