On the palate, it begins smooth but expands forcefully with spicy intensity. The barley's savory depth is prominent, accompanied by the jam's rich sweetness. Oak and its tannins add structure, with dashi-like umami and a robust peat presence. The finish is long, rich, and layered. 【Good/Very Good】 This 9-year-old Springbank was bottled in 2007 for the Springbank Society. It matured in a rum cask, which has previously given good impressions. Initially, there's a bold barley aroma, followed by the presence of thick black tea with hints of bitterness and oak character. Recent Bank-style seafood dashi-like notes and pronounced peat follow. Each element is forceful yet never immature or unpleasant. The drink remains punchy and powerful, overflowing with barley's savory depth. Alongside this, the concentrated fruity sweetness and oak tannins are evident, with peat adding to its intense complexity. While lacking cohesion, each element asserts itself strongly. This is an interesting and delicious malt in its own right. Society-exclusive bottlings often offer intriguing and tasty expressions.
