New Release: Pulteney 1997-2015 Official Bottling for Royal Mile Whiskies #774
Bottle #プルトニー(PULTENEY)
This is an excellent cask that makes one envious.
Pulteney PULTENEY 1997-2015 OB for Royal Mile Whiskies #774 55.7%
one of 210 bottles
The aroma is elegant, with fresh lemon and apple, peach water, pineapple juice, vanilla, diluted honey, a lively plant-like sensation of young leaves, pleasant barley and oil.
When drinking, it offers pineapple and peach juice, vanilla cream and oil, apple juice, chamomile, the gentle umami of barley, a sweet, rich flavor with good acidity and saltiness, and a fruity, long finish.
【Very Good】
Recently bottled for Royal Mile Whiskies, a whisky shop in Edinburgh, this Pulteney 1997 is approximately 18 years old.
Although the cask type isn't specified, it might be a bourbon hogshead refill?
While Pulteney is often known for its oily and heavy characteristics, occasionally one encounters a single cask with such lively, floral fruitiness.
Based on my experience, this resembles the image of a Valinch cask often found in distillery-specific bottlings, and indeed this was that type.
While it's light for a Pulteney, it still retains a solid barley character and oily nuances, with richness and depth, making it very delicious.
This is one of my favorite examples of recent Pulteney releases.
I envied the thought that such a cask was released for the Japanese market.
