I think this is a very good bourbon cask.
Balblair BALBLAIR 1997-2016 Official Bottling for THE WHISKY HOOP #1111 58.6%
One of 216 bottles, Ex-Bourbon barrel
The aroma has strong orange oil, vanilla, a solid maltiness, banana-infused crème brûlée, cinnamon, and rich oak.
On the palate, it is powerful and spicy with a sweet depth of orange marmalade and honey, tightening oak, vanilla, nuts, and malty umami, finishing with a rich aftertaste.
[Good/Very Good]
The Whisky Hoop recently released this official Balblair 1997, aged for approximately 19 years.
On the nose, it immediately gives an impression of a vibrant bourbon cask from recent years, with clear notes of orange, vanilla, and crème brûlée-like Western confectionery nuances.
The flavor also fully expresses the positive aspects of a bourbon cask, with honey-like depth and a well-preserved malty umami, making it delicious.
Notably, the oak presence is strong in both aroma and flavor, creating a very rich profile.
Personally, I don't prefer overly oaky expressions, but this one stayed just on the edge of being overwhelming, which left a favorable impression.
