Bottle #スプリングバンク(SPRINGBANK)
It's enviable that such a whisky can be bottled. Springbank SPRINGBANK 1997-2016 19yo OB for The Scotch Single Malt Circle #244 57.4% one of 156 bottles, Fresh Rum Cask The aroma features ripe sweetness, faint apricot jam, vanilla, honey, Gorgonzola, and a gradual peat note. Upon drinking, it spreads spicy with a condensed feel, offering sweetness and acidity from honey and sweet notes, vanilla, umami from grains and cheese-like flavors, and a long peaty finish. [Very Good] Bottled for the German Scotch Single Malt Circle, this is an official single cask Springbank 1997, aged for 19 years, released last year. The cask was a rum barrel; while rum barrels are generally well-regarded even outside of Springbank, this one was also excellently crafted. The aroma had notes of ripe citrus with a touch of concentrated fruit, alongside blue cheese-like nuances and assertive peat. The taste is condensed with a balanced sweetness and acidity, rich in umami from grains and cheese-like elements, making it easy to drink continuously. Springbank has long stopped selling casks, so this bottling was likely purchased by the circle well in advance. The selection of a promising whisky is evident, and it's truly remarkable. It seems unlikely they'll resume cask sales anytime soon, but would they consider restarting?
