Benriach BENRIACH 1997-2016 19yo OB for THE WHISKY HOOP #96957 56.0%
One of 203 bottles, BOURBON HOGSHEAD
The aroma features ripe orange oil, apricot, apple jam, vanilla, a subtle malt and peach sensation from the depths, cream, and rich oak.
On the palate, it is elegant with a diverse range of fruity aromas, pronounced peach notes, vanilla cream, fruity sweetness with a light acidity, good maltiness, tightening oaky tannins, and spicy finish.
[Good/Very Good]
Released in April, this Benriach 1997, 19-year-old whisky was aged in bourbon barrels.
A single cask from a high-quality barrel, it exudes rich aromas and flavors of orange oil, cream, vanilla, and luxurious oak.
Notably absent are any woody or astringent notes, which is a positive impression.
Furthermore, the peach-like characteristics, likely originating from the original spirit, are distinctly present in the flavor profile. The balance of fruity sweetness and acidity is well executed, with rich oak tannins deepening the flavor. I believe this is a highly accomplished Benriach, skillfully matured and bottled.
