A festival bottle from Glenfiddich, with a clean aroma.
Glenfiddich GLENFIDDICH 1997 OB for Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival #3187/15 54.4% 1st FILL BOURBON CASK
The aroma is vibrant and intense, with orange, peach, strong custard cream, vanilla, coconut, good oak. Upon drinking, it offers orange, custard, a rich sweet flavor with depth, and a slightly tannic oak finish that enhances the taste. The rich, pleasant aftertaste is not overly long.
[Good/Very Good]
This is a single cask bottling from the Glenfiddich distillery, produced for the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival held every May. It seems similar to last year's festival bottling.
Although it is a first-fill bourbon cask, the natural characteristics of bourbon aging are well expressed with lively and diverse fruity notes, vanilla, and good oak sensations. Unpleasant elements like bitterness or raw woodiness were not present.
This bottle has a natural and diverse aroma reminiscent of high-quality second-fill or later bourbon casks, leaving a very clean impression.
Indeed, distilleries with financial stability can afford to use quality casks.
