A BOWMORE with a noticeable fruity character.

The aroma features passion fruit and grapefruit, a young grassy plant note, young barley character, slightly sticky starchiness, strong but not harsh peat. On the palate, it has a spicy mouthfeel, tropical fruity notes similar to the aroma, light planty notes and a slight paper-like texture. It finishes with a fresh fruity syrup sweetness and acidity, leaving a fruity aftertaste.

BOWMORE 1998, aged for 11 years from Abeyhill.
As expected, the tropical passion fruit-like character typical of 90s BOWMORE is present in both aroma and flavor. However, there was a slightly sticky nuance, young planty notes, and barley character, as well as a slight paper-like texture when drinking. While the paper-like texture is one of my less favorite elements, I often find it more common in BOWMOREs from after 2000. It seems that this vintage also varies depending on the specific bottle.
Although some of my less favorite elements are present, the clear fruity character is still well-expressed. Overall, it was a typical BOWMORE that I could enjoy.
