The aroma is strong sherry, dried fruits such as ripe plums and raisins, spices like clove, caramel, black sugar, coffee, toasty barley, rich, and when drinking, despite the high proof, the attack is not strong, spreading gradually with a rich flavor, intense sherry taste, fruity jam-like texture with strong sweetness, and some woody notes from new casks, rich, full-bodied with a long sweet finish.
【Good/Very Good】
The Izumiya shop in Kurume has bottled Yamazaki 1998-2013 for their 60th anniversary, a single cask Sherry Butt.
The color is quite dark, and from the start, the rich sherry aroma is prominent. The elements of recent European oak Sherry Butt are strong, making it complex and rich.
When drinking, the main note is the concentrated sherry, but despite the high proof of 60%, the thick and sticky texture makes the attack not too strong, spreading gradually with a rich aroma.
There are some nuances of fresh wood typical of recent releases, but no unpleasant elements like sulfury notes from the Sherry cask emerged.
The body is thick, and the finish is long, rich, and a luxurious Yamazaki Sherry.
