New Release: Highland Park 1999-2014 14 Year Old Signatory Un-Chillfiltered Collection for The Whisky Exchange #800172
Bottle #ハイランドパーク(HIGHLANDPARK)
In this series, I encountered cask strength for the first time.
Highland Park HIGHLAND PARK 1999-2014 14yo SIGNATORY The Un-Chillfiltered Collection for THE WHISKY EXCHANGE #800172 52.1%
one of 227 bottles, Bourbon Barrel
The aroma has orange, vanilla cream, a strong grainy note with youthfulness, moderate oak, and peat from the depths.
When drinking, it has a spicy, tingling sensation with orange, vanilla, moderate sweetness, and pleasant oak that tightens the flavor, along with a gentle peat.
[Good/Very Good]
This is Highland Park 1999, matured for 14 years in a bourbon barrel from the Signatory Un-Chillfiltered Collection.
Although bottled last year, it was released as a new release this year.
While the unusual label color reminiscent of the quirky 'acorn' labels from when Aechentosh was in a state of confusion (?) is intriguing, I was surprised to learn that this bottle is cask strength.
I had thought the Un-Chillfiltered Collection was only a series with water added up to 46%.
Perhaps that's the power of The Exchange? However, even with such a powerful Exchange, I still find myself wondering about this label sense.(笑)
Including some that feel like copies, the bottler generally has quite stylish labels.
I ended up talking mostly about specs and labels, but the content itself wasn't particularly distinctive, just stable.
Perhaps the time between bottling and release had some effect, as the specs are youthful and high proof but without a harsh alcohol sensation, it was a lively Highland Park with the personality of the bourbon barrel and a good amount of peat.
Whether it was for the content or some profit motive, either way, it feels like something The Exchange would do.(笑)
Upon rereading, somehow this time I ended up writing mostly sarcasm.
