Does the painting express the aroma?
Highland Park HIGHLAND PARK 1999-2015 15yo La Maison du Whisky ARTIST#5 #800199 55%
One 157 bottles, Bourbon Barrel
The aroma features vanilla and orange oil, a hint of pear, vanilla, coconut, honey, fine oak, a touch of cream, a surprisingly gentle grain note with a solid peat.
On the palate, it starts smooth and becomes spicy, with the sensation of biting into a pear skin, orange peel, vanilla cream, a moderate grain note, honey's rich sweetness, luxurious oak, and a clear peat with an ink-like quality.
[Good/Very Good]
This is the Highland Park 1999 from La Maison du Whisky's Artist Series #5, bottled in 2015.
The high-quality bourbon cask nuances of orange oil, coconut, vanilla, honey, and a pleasant rich oakiness are clearly present in both the aroma and flavor. The characteristic Highland Park peat was also well-presented.
Additionally, I didn't detect any woody nuances often associated with bourbon barrels, which typically bring out strong natural wood notes.
What stood out was the pear-like nuance within the fruitiness, with a very strong sensation of biting into a whole pear when drinking. While savoring this, I suddenly noticed that the label features an illustration of a pear.
Other elements depicted include grapefruit and chocolate brownie, along with what appears to be a morning glory flower.
It's uncertain whether this painting accurately expresses the aroma, but it was certainly notable that the pear note was so prominent.
