On the palate, it is less fiery than its ABV suggests, with similar passion fruit and grapefruit notes, strong vanilla, fruity sweetness, citrus acidity, smoky peat, paper-like texture, slight bitterness, oak, and a long oily finish. [Good] This is a Bowmore 2000, 14-year-old bottling by Signatory for The Whisky Exchange. From the start of the aroma, the tropical fruit character centered around passion fruit is clearly present. At the same time, strong grain notes, bourbon barrel vanilla, and the brine and smoke typical of Islay malts are well-expressed. As expected for vintages from 2000 onward, it also had a paper-like texture. On the palate, as expected, there is tropical fruitiness and grapefruit, with a showy bourbon character, and good balance between fruity sweetness and acidity. The peat was also sufficiently present. While I generally think Bowmores with paper-like qualities from this era tend to have lighter bodies, this bottle felt less light due to its oaky and slightly oily characteristics. #Bowmore (BOWMORE)
