The aroma features orange, heated apple, vanilla, strong cereal notes, cinnamon, faint coconut. On the palate, it's spicy and tingling, with apricot jam, orange, and a gentle sweet honey-like flavor. It has some youthful roughness but leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
【Good/Very Good】
This is the official single cask Arran 2001 for Limburg Whisky Fair, aged 12 years in a bourbon cask. Although it's a short-aged bottling from distillation after 2000, the barrel aging is said to mature quickly, and the good aspects of bourbon casks like citrus, vanilla, and coconut were already well-expressed in the aroma. Upon drinking, it's undeniably rough and tingling for its alcohol content, but the matured rich fruitiness and sweet honey-like depth were noticeable. While not complex, it's a straightforwardly well-crafted bottle. I believe Arran is best when aged quickly rather than long-aged, and this one certainly felt true to that philosophy. Truly impressive for Limburg Whisky Fair—they choose young but excellent casks, indeed.
