New Release: Bowmore 2001 13 Year Old Cadenhead's Black Dumpy Bottle
Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
It has its own character, and among Bowmores from 2000 onwards, it had fewer elements I found difficult to like.
Bowmore BOWMORE 2001-2014 13 Year Old Cadenhead's 46%
One of 678 bottles, Bourbon Hogsheads
The aroma features fresh citrus with strong green, grassy plant notes from young barley, accompanied by a slightly sharp smoke and peat, seaweed, and fish stock dashi. Upon drinking, it starts with a soft mouthfeel but has an alcoholic kick, tropical passion fruit notes, strong citrus, and green plant characteristics with a slight bitterness. The smoky charcoal lingers on the finish.

This is a new release from Cadenhead's Black Dumpy Bottle, Bowmore 2001 aged for 13 years. While the aroma suggests a slightly young barley character with green, grassy notes, the fresh citrus impression is striking. It also has the strong peat and seaweed/fish stock dashi elements typical of Islay whiskies. Upon tasting, the fresh citrus remains prominent, but I clearly sensed Bowmore's characteristic tropical fruit notes like passion fruit. Although there is an undeniable sense of youthfulness, I hardly noticed the paper-like elements I often find in Bowmores from 2000 onwards. I thought this was a great bottle for enjoying a young, fresh Bowmore without any hassle.
