New Release: BOWMORE 2001 13 Year Old Blackadder Raw Cask for Malt Odyssey Fukuoka #20062
Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
The paper-like quality was absent in this 2001 BOWMORE, which made a good impression.
BOWMORE 2001-2014 13yo BLACKADDER RAW CASK for Malt Odyssey Fukuoka #20062 59.1%
one of 70 bottles, Hogshead
The aroma is vibrant and strongly fruity with passion fruit, lychee, a solid grain or cereal note, smoky peat with some iodine. On the palate, it is not as harsh as its alcohol strength suggests, with a clear tropical fruit profile similar to the aroma (passion fruit), assertive peat, and grain notes without any paper-like qualities. It also has the boldness characteristic of an Islay whisky, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.
【Good/Very Good】
This Blackadder Raw Cask was bottled for the Malt Odyssey event in Fukuoka. It is a 13-year-old BOWMORE from 2001.
Whiskies of this vintage often combine fruitiness with a paper-like quality, which I personally find less appealing. However, this BOWMORE did not have that paper-like quality.
Although it lacks complexity due to its short maturation period, the aroma and flavor both strongly exhibit the tropical fruitiness typical of BOWMORE. The peat also has the bold, forceful character reminiscent of an Islay cask strength whisky, making it a very enjoyable experience.
