Bennevis BENNEVIS 2001 13yo Whisky Agency for SAKE SHOP SATO 50.3%
Bottle #ベンネヴィス(BENNEVIS)
The intriguing contrast between the aromatic and flavor profiles was interesting. Bennevis BENNEVIS 2001 13yo Whisky Agency for SAKE SHOP SATO 50.3% The aroma features fresh green apple, lemonade, vanilla, young barley and plant notes. Upon drinking, it is surprisingly smooth for its ABV, with flavors of orange and pineapple, a subtle sweetness, moderate viscosity, gentle barley umami, oiliness, oak, and a faint bitterness in the finish. [Good/Very Good] Bottled by Whisky Agency for SAKE SHOP SATO in Osaka, this Bennevis 2001 is aged for 13 years. Part of a series labeled with Santa Claus illustrations titled 'Vacation Whisky' and 'Always Christmas'. Uncharacteristically for Bennevis, the aroma is more bourbon-like, with strong green apple and lemonade nuances. The barley and plant notes are prominent but without the immature feel often associated with post-2000 distillations. Upon tasting, the weight feels heavier than expected from its fresh aroma, showcasing Bennevis' signature oiliness, pineapple-like fruitiness, and a light bitterness. However, compared to classic Bennevis, it feels more refined and approachable, with minimal paperiness, coarse grains, or machine oil-like characteristics. It maintains Bennevis' essence but in a more balanced and polished manner, resulting in an enjoyable drinking experience. #Bennevis (BENNEVIS)
