Glenfiddich GLENFIDDICH 2001-2016 OB HAND BOTTLING #14089 61.5% 2nd Fill Sherry Butt
The aroma features recent sherry sweetness, chocolate-dusted orange, prunes, young plum wine, woodiness, clove, and barley notes from the depths. The taste is spicy and stimulating, with plums, barrel-aged plum wine, chocolate, a rich sweetness, a moderate astringency, recent barrel woodiness, and a faint tannic edge.
【Good/Very Good】
This bottle was filled at the Glenfiddich distillery in May of this year, and it's a second-fill sherry butt distilled in 2001. I also filled this bottle during my trip to the distillery.
Despite being a second-fill, it's a type where recent sherry cask nuances are relatively clear alongside woodiness. Notes of sweet fruits, chocolate, and spices were noticeable. While the high alcohol content provides a youthful kick, there's almost no rawness. Though the aroma and flavor had a slightly stronger plum wine-like nuance, I felt it was well-balanced with good sherry character.
