Indeed, hand bottling selects young but good casks.
Balblair BALBLAIR 2002-2015 OB HAND BOTTLING #1433 55.1%
The aroma has orange juice, vanilla, a youthful strong barley note, and a solid orange oil. Upon drinking, it starts with a viscous mouthfeel that expands powerfully, offering a rich sweetness of orange and apricot, vanilla, and the umami of barley. The oakiness and accompanying tannins are well-balanced, leaving a long finish.
【Good/Very Good】
This hand bottling was bottled at Balblair Distillery in May of this year, distilled in 2002 and aged for approximately 13 years.
It lacks complexity but has no signs of immaturity. It appears to have been aged in good bourbon casks, with nuances of orange oil, vanilla, and high-quality oak. The barley character is clearly present in both aroma and flavor, with a rich umami.
The cask influence and the spirit's character are both well-expressed, with depth of flavor and a high level of satisfaction. The cask selection feels somewhat similar to that of the Pluthon hand bottling from the same parent company, showing that good casks are indeed selected.
