GlenTauchers GLENTAUCHERS 2003-2016 12yo Chieftain's #900234 56.2%
Bottle #グレントファース(GLENTAUCHERS)
A well-crafted sherried cask considering its specifications. GlenTauchers GLENTAUCHERS 2003-2016 12yo Chieftain's #900234 56.2% The aroma is rich sherry, mixed dried fruits with raisins as the main component, plum jam, spices like clove, and a hint of Grand Marnier. On the palate, it spreads with a rich, dry raisin flavor that is not overly dried, a concentrated fruity sweetness, and a pleasant astringency accompanied by herbs and woodiness that deepen the flavor. [Good/Very Good] Recently released from Chieftain's, this is a cask strength GlenTauchers 2003, 12-year-old whisky. Young sherried casks often have a clash between sherry characteristics and robust malty sweetness, as seen in the recent release from Fhurp's Far class. However, this bottle has less of a malty sensation, instead offering a well-rounded array of sherried elements that feel more mature than the aging years suggest. This difference might reflect the quality distinction between Far class and Tofaers. In any case, as a European oak sherried cask, it's a pleasant and less bitter expression. While it may lack growth potential, its value for money is high, making it a well-crafted whisky. It feels like a cohesive type without grand scale, and personally, I would consider purchasing one.
