The sherry character was a bit stronger than expected. Arran ISLE OF ARRAN 2004-2015 10 Year Old Official Bottling Private Cask for THE WHISKY SHOP #2004/019, 54.2% ABV – one of 324 bottles, Sherry Hogshead A robust sherry aroma with plum, orange coated in chocolate, American coffee, clove, and a hint of youthfulness with charred barley. Upon tasting, it was unexpectedly mellow with viscosity and a smooth texture. Notes of plum jam, a touch of sesame oil, a strong sweetness with some stickiness, a subtle tannic finish from chocolate, and a slightly oily, rounded aftertaste. 【Good/Very Good】 This Arran 2004 was bottled for American whisky shops, aged 10 years in a sherry hogshead. A customer from Yurakucho who visited America purchased this bottle. Unlike recent lighter, refined sherry-forward Arrans, this one had a notably rich and intense sherry character. It felt concentrated with strong viscosity and some stickiness, though the sweetness was pronounced. While I've tried several Arran private casks, most were 15-20 year old sherry hogsheads with natural aging and cask characteristics, resulting in drinkable profiles. This 10-year-old release had some roughness and assertive flavoring, but it pleasantly defied expectations with its bold, rich taste. #Isle of Arran (ISLE OF ARRAN)
