New Release: GlenGoine 2005-2015 10 Year Old Official 'Cask Owner' #2433
Bottle #グレンゴイン(GLENGOYNE)
I had no idea such a bottle even existed.
GlenGoine GLENGOYNE 2005-2015 10yo OB 'CASK OWNER' #2433 60%
One of 609 bottles, European Oak Sherry Butt
Powerful and rich sherried notes with plum, baked apple, milk chocolate, a touch of mint and herbs, youthful yet robust barley character with some toastiness.
Drinking it delivers a viscous, rich texture with blackcurrant and jam-like sweetness, pleasant tannic dryness, richness, a touch of meatiness, herbs, and a long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This is part of the 'Cask Owner' series, bottles reserved for cask owners. I first learned of its existence through a whisky forum where someone purchased the cask.
This bottle is a single cask, 10-year-old matured in a sherry butt from 2005 distillation.
As expected for a European oak sherry cask, it offers a rich array of jammy sweetness and tannic dryness. However, since the maturation period is only 10 years, the barley's umami character remains well-balanced without being masked. The tannic dryness is not harsh, making it pleasant to drink.
Notes of mint and herbs add a slightly meaty nuance. Despite the 10-year maturation, I found it impressive how diverse and full-bodied the flavors felt.
