The aroma has youthful, strong barley notes with a pronounced sherry character, plum, black sugar, sweet caramel, coconut, richness, and a spicy, tingling sensation on the palate. It's aromatic, with strong plum jam sweetness, pleasant acidity, and a youthful yet savory barley character. The sherry notes and the savory barley flavors linger in the finish.
【Good/Very Good】
This official single cask from Glenmorangie Distillery was distilled in 2006 and filled in May of this year, aging for approximately nine years. The aroma showcases the fruity notes typical of recent sherry casks, along with nuances of black sugar and caramel, while the youthful, strong barley character comes through prominently. On the palate, the recent sherry character and the savory, young barley notes are both present and continue through to the finish. Although likely a sherry butt, it lacks the rawness or sulfuric notes often associated with such casks. However, its youthfulness and lack of cohesion are evident. Nevertheless, the strong sherry character masks some of the immaturity, making it a bottle that is generally enjoyable. The distinct sherry notes and savory barley character each assert themselves, offering a unique charm in their individual deliciousness. This could be considered the fun of young single casks. Additionally, I found it an interesting educational example for understanding the sherry cask maturation process.
