When drinking, the attack is unexpectedly not strong but gradually becomes spicy. There's a slight sulfury element, a rich sherry feel, jam-like sweetness, astringent bitterness, powerful peat, and a long, rich finish. [Good/Very Good] This Caol Ila 2006, aged for 10 years, was bottled exclusively for THE Whisky Shop in Dufftown. Although there are some sulfury elements, the aroma is well filled with fruity and sweet sherry notes. Despite its high alcohol content, it has a smooth finish. While sulfur is noticeable, the balance between sweetness and bitterness is good, and it also has a powerful peaty feel typical of Islay. This Caol Ila properly satisfies the desire to drink an Islay malt aged in a sherry cask.
