Edradour EDRADOUR 2006-2016 9yo OB Un-Chillfiltered Collection for JAPAN #376 58.7% Aroma: Warm and sweet rich sherry, plum jam, orange, inexpensive milk chocolate, oily & milky coffee fresh, wafer graininess, herbs. Taste: A texture with both stimulation and viscosity, chewy with plum jam-like unique milkiness, smooth yet flat but strong sweetness, pronounced astringency, some green herb bitterness, yet depth and deliciousness. 【Good/Very Good】 New release from Edradour: 2006 distillation sherry cask. Found during a visit to the Signatory warehouse for whisky foup purchases. Although it couldn't be bottled for foup, we were able to have it bottled as a single cask for Japan through our official agent Bolinn Japan. One of foup's themes is bringing good casks that tend to flow to other regions into Japan, and this achieves its purpose. Usually the Un-Chillfiltered Collection is diluted to 46%, but this one is bottled at cask strength. Regarding the essential content, a rich sherry character covers everything without being off-putting, with strong impressions of jammy fruits and bitter herbs. The milky nuances reminiscent of Edradour's candy milk chocolate and coffee fresh are also strongly present. Naturally, no perfume was detected. Despite the firm astringency, the smooth sweetness felt slightly flat. This is characteristic of Edradour, but it seems interesting how the integration will develop further. This is an official cask strength (likely first fill) sherry cask from Edradour, priced around ¥6000, and this level of deliciousness makes it an extremely cost-effective bottle. While cost-performance varies per person, I believe this bottle's value for money is high for the majority of drinkers. For me, it will likely be the top cost-performance release of the year.
