Bottle #グレンスコシア(GLENSCOTIA)
There might be quite a few of this type of Scotch. Glen Scotia GLENSCOTIA 2006-2017 11yo OB for CAMBELTOUN LOCH AND SHINANOYA #357 56.9% one of 210 bottles The aroma has a botanical-like gin quality, slightly chemical, fresh lime, green melon, mint, and green apple candy. When drinking, it has similar gin nuances as the aroma, slightly artificial green apple candy, herbs, a balanced sweetness and acidity, strong saltiness, and the finish is not long but pleasant. [Good/Very Good, Interesting] This is a single cask Glen Scotia 2006, aged for 11 years, selected and bottled by Campbelltown Loch (Ginjitsu) and Shinoya. Recently, there have been many Scotochs with a creamy, rich sweetness style, but the distillery-exclusive bottling we introduced last time had interesting gin-like nuances. For this release, I expected the former type before tasting but it was clearly the latter with a strong gin-like character. In other words, I think the distillery-exclusive bottling from last time wasn't special due to a unique cask, but that this type also exists in its own right. I feel the aroma and texture are completely different, almost like entirely different creations, but this bottle clearly has a briny quality and strongly reflects the Campbelltown Malt character. Like Springbank, which uses old equipment and has a handmade, variable feel, Glen Scotia feels equally mysterious but perhaps even more so than Springbank.
